http://www.mapsofworld.com/egypt/egypt-political-map.html (note from Port Said down to the Suez Gulf is the most important)
here is a map of the world http://www.mapsofworld.com/physical-map/world.htm (notice where the gulf is located, it separates africa from Saudi Arabia )
Now than, if for some reason the Suez Canal is shut down, prices of all commadities (sp) would sky rocket literally over night...over 30% of the WORLD'S oil travel through the Suez Canal every year...yes the WORLD'S oil..for North America, Europe, and Asia ..not just the United States. as of now, ships from Asia come around India (it sticks out into the ocean ) and through the canal, than to the Atlancic Ocean and pit stops in Europe of course. Now than, if the Suez Canal is closed, ships will be forced either around Africa, or through the pacific ocean..it would take weeks if not months to get supplies and merchendise to its destination...
As for petroleum produces, here are the things that will go up in price if the Canal is closed, as the price of oil would greatly increase as well...somethings that would interest you...

any of these things sound familiar? would it affect you if these things increased 2x in price in a week?? Oil=Petroleum..and petroleum=..well...just about everything.
A brief history about Egypt..they were apart of every world empire...from Persia, the Greeks, Romans, Byzentines, Ottomans, than eventually the British, than the French..back to Britian, and than Egypt was invaded by Italy and later Germany in the second world war, afterward power returned to the British. however their power dwindled and the British French and Israelis eventually occupied the country...there is a gap i dont know much about, however Hosni Mubark (the dictator who was just throw out of power) was installed in 1980 after Egypt was defeated in a war against Israel..
from 1980 until now, the United States and Europe backed Mubark with billions of dollars, all of which went to his military, all of his material signature of the United States,..the militarhy and officials kept the UN and US "donations" for themselves ...1/3 of the Egyptian population cannot read or write, 60% of the country is unemployed (and we complain about 9%) and the welfare is less than 2 Egyptian pounds per day.....not too much is it?
Well guys thats it for now...any input? What do you think? more will come soon...
